It was once said that music is the poetry of sound, and we certainly cannot disagree with that statement, especially when you come across an EP like “Almost Poetry” , where its author Brack Jones pours every iota of his passion and love for music both lyrically and sonically. With its five fantastic tracks, the Texas native takes us by the hand and leads us into a brief yet incredibly intense journey of stories, melodies and emotions. We kick off with “Different Stone” and what a way to set the tone with a majestic guitar riff welcoming us like a sweet Southern breeze as Brack begins a tale of pining love and the hopes that that which was lost may return. Our Lone Star man then decides to slow things down with a couple of heartfelt blue eyed ballads which answer to the name of “Forecast” and “Wish You Well”, the former being a more traditional reflection on what could have been but ultimately was not and the latter painting a vivid picture of how our formative years be they happy, sad or indifferent ultimately shape who we are today. The pièce de résistance happens with our two concluding tracks, “Ode To Tom”, a fantastic homage to one of America’s most beloved and iconic singer songwriters Tom Petty and “Troubadour”, in which Brack embraces the Country/Americana tradition of telling a story, enticing the listener to listen all the way to the end to find out what happens. In conclusion we cannot recommend this EP any further, should you be looking to get lost in the true poetry of music with incredibly relatable lyrical content, this is your first class ticket, grab it while you can, you will be glad that you did.
