Way back in the 90s, a Southern Californian motorcycle parts company coined the phrase “Go big or go home” referring to its packaging for Harley Davidson pipes and the phrase is very much applicable to our music hero, Will Wesley who seems to have very much embraced this mantra with his latest double opus “Both Sides Of The Tracks”. Bombast, grit and heart all come together in perfect harmony to paint a perfect picture of who Will is, be it rowdy wild rocker in numbers like Attitude, Paint This Country and The Break to sombre bluesman in “New Kind Of Blues” to good ole cowboy in duets like Cold On Steel. Speaking of duets, if Will and his wailing guitar were not enough for you, the man has brought some fabulous playmates joining him on this double album like Hannah Belle, Kern Pratt and others which add that extra spice and kick to what is already an incredibly flavourful musical meal. Not enough can be said about what a truly enjoyable experience Both Sides Of The Tracks is and this writer certainly would not be able to do it justice in just one review. Just like all of life’s pleasures, you will just have to try it for yourself to truly get what we are talking about. Whether you are polishing your steel horse, looking for a party or just needing something to blast from your speakers while you partake of what the kids like to call “cruisin’” , you certainly will be remiss if you pass up Will Wesley and this double dose of aural dynamite , made for those who are a little bit country and a little bit rock’n’roll with that sweet sweet bluesy center.
