I really like this CD. Maybe because the voice of this guy from Florida is really nice, maybe because the instruments and musical arrangements are just right, or maybe because the 12 songs are full of charm, feeling … and country music. It’s probably all of these reasons, or simply because it reminds me so much of when I was younger, when in the Billboard charts, there were names like Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Mark Chesnutt, Tracy Byrd, Tracy Lawrence or Brooks & Dunn playing for the top spot. Nostalgia aside, the fact remains that “I Wanna Live Like That” is a really nice record, certainly more suitable for those who love Garth Brooks rather than Bob Wills, but undoubtedly a great Cd. You would think that “Four Words” was sung by Tracy Lawrence in “Alibis” .Listening to the title track “I Wanna Live Like That” or “When I Get Home”,on the other hand, reminds me of Garth Brooks in his first years.Mind you though, Matt Bailie is not one who sings like this one or like that one. He’s a musician with his own personal style, well-defined and precise, but it is evidently clear that he was “exposed” to a massive dose of that “new” country music, typical of the ’90’s “when the Billboard charts saw names like Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Mark Chesnutt, Tracy Byrd, Tracy Lawrence or Brooks & Dunn fighting for the top spot.” Just like me.
