After having teased her fans  with a slew of chart scaling singles, Leslie Cours Mather has at last unleashed unto the world her newest full length album , “I’m A Survivor” and the result couldn’t be better. The California native had already created quite a stir with the title track, “Love’s Gonna Do That” and  “We Should Try Again” and now we are introduced to seven other great songs that make up this 10 track album. The core theme is one of fighting the good fight, keeping one’s head above ground and always looking for that light at the end of the tunnel ; which could not come at a better time, taking into account the state of the planet’s affairs and the personal battles that Leslie herself has had to fight. The album can definitely be interpreted for the most part as a cathartic and at times sombre journey with Leslie’s emotion filled and ethereal voice  on tracks like “Fast” , “Sober and “Heartache Tonight” , which cannot be mistaken as anything but genuine personal stories. A special mention also goes to her cover of “Blue Bayou” which has just the same sentiment previously imbued by Roy Orbison and Linda Ronstadt. It takes courage to put out such a personal work and bare one’s very soul to the world and Leslie has done this with strength, spirit and beauty. ( Nik Bernitz Pizzigoni)
