Gli America, la band formata nel 1970 da Dewey Bunnell, Dan Peek e Gerry Beckley, celebra quest’anno il cinquantesimo anniversario e per l’occasione uscirà a giugno con un sontuoso cofanetto composto da 8 cds più gadgets vari. Il box, intitolato Half Century e pubblicato dalla America Records, riunisce rare registrazioni in studio, d’archivio, mix, demos, prove, alternate versions e tanto altro coprendo tutta la storia della band, dal 1970 al 2000. “I think that the ingredients of the America sound are the basic fundamentals that translate internationally,” spiega Beckley in un comunicato. “The Italians are huge fans of dance music, but they also love a ballad – they’re romantic at heart. It’s the same in the Far East. A lot of times in these countries, we see people singing along, and they don’t really know what the words mean. Music is truly the international language.”
