Si, lui è proprio quel John Oates. Quel John Oates che insieme a Daryl Hall vendette milioni di dischi negli anni ’80 fino a diventare il duo di maggior successo, in termini di vendite, della storia del rock/pop. John da parecchi anni vive a “Music City” ed evidentemente il “clima” musicale della città (country soprattutto, ma anche tantissimi altri generi) lo ha convinto ad incidere un album che esula abbastanza da quelle sonorità che lo hanno reso così famoso in tutto il mondo. Registrato, insieme alla Good Road Band, il 9 gennaio 2020 al famoso Station Inn, locale che si trova nella zona denominata The Gulch, proprio tra Music Row e Downtown, Live in Nashville è un album molto divertente che spazia dal country, al bluegrass toccando anche il blues e il soul. “I was always fascinated by this rural Americana Appalachian music,” spiega John “which opened the door for me starting to listen to John Lee Hooker and other blues artists long before the British Invasion turned kids on to them.  I always preferred the originals myself.” I brani sono sicuramente noti e i musicisti che vi partecipano sono dei professionisti esperti e preparati. Nulla di strano quindi che Live In Nashville risulti suonato e cantato in maniera impeccabile. Da incorniciare la versione di  “Oh Lonesome Me”
