Cave Creek è una deliziosa cittadina di 5000 abitanti che sorge a Nord della città di Phoenix, nella contea di Maricopa. Pur mantenendo esternamente una struttura stile old west, i negozi e i locali che qui si trovano sono davvero stupendi, incastonati tra cactus e deserto. Si può passare un pomeriggio rilassante dando un’occhiata ai prodotti dell’artigianato locale al Buffalo Bill’s trading Post, agli antiques del The Town Dump o alle curiosità del Lazy Lizard. Se invece cercate il brivido della frontiera ecco il Cave Creek Armory, il Blazzing Saddle e il Big Bronco ricco di materiale vintage. La sera poi, quando il sole è tramontato ed i colori del deserto vi sono entrati nel cuore, è obbligo fermarsi al Buffalo Chip. Il locale è in perfetto stile vecchio west e l’atmosfera è decisamente unica, calda ed accogliente. Si mangia bene e ovviamente, la carne è il piatto forte secondo la regola “All-u-can-eat”. Cucinata in varie maniere, di pollo o bovina, è semplicemente squisita e viene servita con ogni sorta di contorno. Come in tutti i locali Americani di questo tipo, anche qui vi è una band (country) che suona durante la serata. Al Buffalo Chip è di casa Pat James. Pat è un honky tonker puro, con canzoni ricche di fiddle e steel guitar. Ovviamente si può ballare, prevalentemente il two step, ma anche la line dance. Anzi in alcuni pomeriggi della settimana vengono tenute anche lezioni di ballo. Il venerdì, all’esterno, viene di solito organizzato un rodeo con i bull riders e lo spettacolo è davvero emozionante. Insomma se vi trovate in Arizona dalle parti di Phoenix, una visita a Cave Creek e al Buffalo Chip sono assolutamente consigliate.

Cave Creek is a delightful little town with a population of 5,000 situated in the Northern part of the city of Phoenix in the County of Maricopa. Whilst maintaining an external old Western style, the shops and clubs are really something stunning set among cactuses and the desert. You can spend a relaxing afternoon visiting the local craft products at the Buffalo Bill’s Trading Post, the antiques of The Town Dump or the curiosities of the Lazy Lizard. If you are looking for the thrill of the border there is the Cave Creek Armory, The Saddle and Blazing Big Bronco full of vintage material. In the evening, when the sun has set and the colours of the desert have filled your heart, you must make a stop at the Buffalo Chip. The restaurant is in a perfect old West style, and the atmosphere is definitely unique, warm and welcoming. The food is good and of course the meat is the specialty with the “All-u-can-eat” offer. Cooked in various ways, chicken or beef, it is all simply delicious and served with all sorts of garnishing. As in all local American restaurants of this type, even here there is a group (country) that plays during the evening. The Buffalo Chip is home to Pat James. Pat is a pure honky tonker, whose songs are full of fiddle and steel guitar. Of course you can dance, mainly the two-step, but also line dance. Indeed, during some afternoons of the week, dance lessons are also held. On Friday,outside the restaurant, a rodeo is organised with bull riders, and the show is really exciting. So, if you find yourself around Phoenix in Arizona, a visit to Cave Creek and the Buffalo Chip is highly recommended.
