Sara Storer is a former schoolteacher from Kalaringi in the NT who has recorded only three CDs. “Firefly” is her third, released in 2005. Her previous CD, “Beautiful Circle” got her seven Golden Guitar awards and she added two more for “Firefly”. Sara has a very different voice and she sings with an almost colonial Australian accent with Celtic influences in many of her very well written songs. Sara is one of the best female country songwriters and she once again strengthens that in the variety of thought-provoking songs in “Firefly”. Several songs are in minor key and tell stories, some more like folk songs, some like country songs. Her inspirations come from family, friends and from things that happen around her. They’re all good. “The Ballad of Tommy Foster” is a nice folk song. “That’s What You Get for Loving Me” is more country with nice easy-going folk overtones. “Billibong” is one of those lazy weekend kind of songs that envision sitting under a tree with a fishing pole. “Important Things”, another easy listen with Paul Kelly adding vocals. “Molly Green” is another folk song with heavy Celtic overtones and Irish flute even though it’s totally Australian. “Chiller’s Bend” is a duet Sara does with her brother, Greg. It's a very good CD and highly recommended. Sara’s website is www.sarastorer.com.au
