Testo in Italiano

When a CD is called “Country Junkie” (Cache / Sony Music) and contains songs that are titled “Where A Farm Used To Be” or “Saturday Beer”, it deserves at least to be heard. It may be a professional deformation, but the word country always seems to light up like a bulb. In addition, Gord Bamford is not really a new name, and although he is still very young (born in 1976), he has already had as many as 5 CDs published, all of great quality. Very close to the new traditionalists, this singer / songwriter, Canadian (but Australian-born), has, with all due respects, a warm and well-balanced voice and just listening to “Nights Like You” you realize that this is an artist with great potential. In fact, the first track from this CD, entitled “When Your Lips Are So Close”, recently won the Canadian Country Music Association award as the best single of the year and launched Gord to an international level. If then, you love the two-step, there are at least a couple of pieces (“One Makes Me Want Another” and “The Truth”) that will drive you crazy. The duet between Joe Diffie and Gord for the title track “Cowboy Junkies” must be highlighted. I should also mention the beautiful “I Wont Regret That” and the modern “Daughterville” that will complement this 14 track album. I like the country music by Gord Bamford. (Gianluca Sitta)
